The e-Innovation Centre (e-IC), based at the University of Wolverhampton’s Telford Campus, is proud to announce that it is now at full occupancy and home to some 60 growing businesses, with a waiting list for its business incubator units.
Officially launched in 2007 and built as part of a £7 million project funded by Advantage West Midlands, the European Regional Development Fund and the University of Wolverhampton, the e-IC provides a fantastic opportunity for start-up and growing businesses to have state-of-the-art business accommodation with hi-tech support from a team of consultants.
The e-IC is the first building in the area in which small and medium sized enterprises, micro-businesses and spin-off companies can be co-located in one building and its success demonstrates the growing innovative and high-tech business community in the region.
Diana Thompson, e-IC Director, says “We’re delighted that our Centre houses some very progressive companies - demand has been so great that we are already looking to create additional grow-on space. We also offer an innovative Launch Pad Unit, specifically designed for individuals who want to develop their embryo businesses without incurring vast expense”.
Additionally, the e-IC provides IT support consultancy and advice for tenants and for eligible companies outside the Centre. Funded assistance is provided by a team of specialist consultants who can deliver IT solutions in specialisms such as web technologies, IT strategies, smart card development, radio frequency identification and multi-media technologies. Since inception, the e-IC team has assisted over 140 businesses in the West Midlands with IT, business and marketing consultancy and helped nurture 37 new businesses and create 69 new jobs, further proof that the Centre has already exceeded expectations.
